Processing Somaloy materials involves 2 steps: compaction & heat-treatment.
Compaction
The Somaloy press-ready mixes, supplied by Höganäs, are compacted in a single step to form components with complex shapes and tight tolerances. Component manufacturing is based on the globally established, cost effective PM (Powder Metallurgy) method.
Heat-treatment
During the heat-treatment operation, the lubricants contained in the component are evaporated. The main purposes with heat-treatment are to obtain partial stress relief of the component after compaction and to gain additional strength.
